"Aloha, my name is Dominique Miller or Nique for short. I am a professional Afro-Latina surfer out of Waikiki, Hawaii. I compete on both the App Stand Up Paddle World tour and WSL Longboard World Tour.

I absolutely love surfing and getting to travel the world doing it. I think surfing is such a freeing and beautiful sport to do. It not only helps me stay happy but healthy...and I get to see some cool places along the way.

I also love how for the most part, surfing, is such a good vibe and brings a strong connection with other surfers. I have been able to make some of my best friends/supportive group of people that help uplift me and encourage me to pursue my dreams.

I think this is very important not only within surfing but whatever you do is to surround yourself with good people that empower and believe in you as much as you do!

I have had my fair share of experiences where people doubted me and thought I was crazy for some of the goals I wanted to reach within surfing. I never listened to them I knew that the sky was the limit for me...and I think it’s very important for the young boys, girls, or anyone reading this that: You and your dreams are valid!  You can do whatever you set your heart to with hard work and determination! Never give up and go after it!"

Thank you for sharing, Nique! Can't wait to see you continue to achieve your dreams and inspire all of us out here.
