It's been a while since we've had a Feature Friday, and what better person to start it up again with other than community surf leader and surf coach, @vanessayeager! 

 

Vanessa runs a couple of amazing groups (@womenwhosurf_ and @latinxsurfclub) and hails from Costa Mesa, California. You can find her helping people find their stoke in the water or catching waves herself all around SoCal, with a smile that shows true joy. She was kind enough to answer a few key questions for us and share some great stories and photos! 

 

 

How did you get started in what you're doing now?

I am a surf coach as well as admin for the Women Who Surf and Latinx Surf Club Facebook global groups. I have always dreamt of becoming the woman and surfer I am today! I followed my passions and here I am now. 

 

How/when did you start surfing and how has it impacted your life? 

I started surfing when I was a teenager. Surfing has given me the most beautiful life ever and I am grateful everyday for this life!  

I have traveled and met so many amazing people because of surfing. 

 

What inspires you?

My family, the waves, community, kindness, and mother nature inspires me! 

 

Any fun surf or ocean related stories:

I recently surfed a wave I had been dreaming about for 20 years and I was in heaven! 

I highly recommend everyone take that trip. Book that flight. Go on that adventure! 

 

 

Yes definitely! Biggest lesson learned? 

Surfing is not easy; it takes serious commitment and failing is part of the process. The love of surfing though and the positive energy it brings to your life is worth it.  

 

Any advice/tips for young or aspiring surfers?

Follow your dreams! Sigue tus.
